Project type:
Honours thesis (undergraduate) with voice recorded interviews via face-to-face or phone
Project title: Coming Home: Heaven or Hell? Repatriation experiences during the GFC
Date due:
15/10/2009 - thesis due early November 2009
Seeking:
Those repatriating back to Australia due to the financial crisis (with a company or without)
For:
Timothy Vertoudakis, Organisation and Management student
From:
University of New South Wales
Format:
Short interview, approximately 30 minutes. Strictly confidential. The interviews will cover general issues known to be associated with repatriation, and will especially prompt for the unique difficulties associated with repatriation in the current context
Details:
The literature abounds with negative outcomes related to repatriation, such as difficulties in re-adapting to the home country life, reduced work status and responsibilities, and underutilisation of accumulated expertise. The impact of unexpected or emergency repatriation can magnify these issues, but this topic has not been sufficiently addressed. The study will reveal the specific issues related to a “sped-up” and somewhat “ad-hoc” repatriation. Other unique insights might stem from the fact that there is an unprecedented number of expatriates coming home at the same time.
