We have watched the video and there are some excellent tips included.

To summarise, Thomas Power's Top Ten Tips for Networking mentioned in this
video are:
1. Collect people
Your ability to remember details about the people you meet is much better
than you think - you can create a friendship network and find whatever you need
2. Respect geography
80% of your income is spent within two miles of home - you should have access to
100 - 500 people close to home - in other words, within your local community,
you should know this many people!
3. Start a club
That represents you based on geography, your expertise or your name - your face
is your brand - the more that people see it, the more they will become used to
it
4. Relax and be yourself
Don't act when you are networking. Put your '50 words' on the back of
your business card - people will connect with that rather than your product or
service
5. Go for volume, not quantity
Never make any assumptions about the people you meet, treat everyone the
same
6. Listen for link words
That connect you with the person
7. Make a match - live
Provide the person you meet with someone who matches what they are looking
for - provide an instant, live referral. Never ask for anything, just make
matches.
8. Disturb your comfort zone
For every person you meet and every hour you spend with them, they will be
an ambassador for you and make another 10 recommendations on your behalf
9. Read new material
There are a variety of books written by authors with PhD's talking about the
'rise of the creative class,' the nature of competition and self supported
networks.
10. Your reputation
You must manage this carefully. If there is a problem, fix it,
instantly. When you take everything else away, your reputation is
all that you have left. Make sure you treat everyone the same (not
preferential treatment for someone you perceive as better, more influential etc)
