Ring your local council, they often have business networking events that are very good. To find your own council (either where you live or work), have a look at http://www.mav.asn.au (do not discount this idea, good resources can be found in your own backyard!!). If you are ringing them on the phone, ask for the Economic Development Department and ask them to send you a business information pack (and if you don't already have one, a new resident's kit).
You can also check out the State Government's website for events http://www.business.vic.gov.au/calendar.

If you are a professional woman in business or government, consider contacting Larke Riemer, the State Manager of Women In Business at Westpac/Bank of Melbourne and ask her to add you to her network lriemer@westpac.com.au.
Vive magazine is available at good newsagents and lists networking
events just before the back cover. Make sure that you check out the full list of women's groups on their website at http://www.vivemagazine.com.au.

As mentioned above, Centrum Events run the Businesswomen's Breakfast Series in Melbourne and Sydney.
Members of Newcomers Network are invited to ask us by email which other networking groups may be appropriate for them as this page mainly lists general networking groups. Of course we always recommend that you approach the professional association for your industry. If you are a member of Newcomers Network, you can also receive a copy of our 'Special Friends Email' that lists events coming up. It is a copy of what is printed on the Future Events page of our website and it is usually sent on the fourth Tuesday of the month.
