MEDIA RELEASE: AUSTRALIAN HEROES WELCOME HOME ON HARMONY DAY 21 MARCH 2011 IN MELBOURNEAustralians have been living and working overseas for years – but they only receive a heroes welcome if they have served their country in the Defence Force. Many Australian Repatriates find it difficult to: The consequence is that they often go BACK overseas because it is so hard to re-settle in Australia. Newcomers Network, Australia’s first network for newcomers has hosted five free annual Welcome Home Parties for Australian Expatriates and Repatriates since 2006. On Harmony Day, 21 March 2011, the day we celebrate that ‘everyone belongs,’ we will host another celebration. This day is usually reserved for welcoming newcomers from other countries but this year, it is time to also welcome BACK our Australian Heroes. We would like to find Australian Repatriates (Australians who have lived or worked overseas for any length of time) and invite them to mix and mingle with each other at the Rendezvous Hotel, Level 1, 328 Flinders Street Melbourne on Monday 21 March 2011 from 6pm – 7:30pm. Our hope is that a regular group will become established so that our Aussie Heroes will always feel welcome back in Australia and can share their experiences, networks and ideas with other Australian residents. This social and business networking will allow these people to re-establish themselves in the lucky country. This event is free to attend – simply pay for your own refreshments. Everyone is welcome (including locals). PLEASE HELP US FIND AUSTRALIANS WHO HAVE LIVED AND WORKED OVERSEAS AND ARE NOW LIVING IN MELBOURNE AND INVITE THEM TO ATTEND THIS EVENT SO THAT THEY CAN MEET ONE ANOTHER AND BE WELCOMED BACK TO AUSTRALIA.
